Really now

News reports say that infamous Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss is opening a “stud farm” in Nevada, a luxury brothel catering specifically to women. Right.

So, I went to her website to see if I could get any more details for this post (and to get the address of the stud farm … LOL, just kidding) and I noticed that she has items for sale, including what you’d expect – lingerie, um – toys, etc. And baby blankets. ?!? I can’t really imagine why someone would go buy baby blankets from Heidi Fleiss?

Interviews and dreams

I have a phone interview in an hour. For some reason, I’m a nervous wreck. I don’t usually get nervous about interviews. I feel like I do better in person, though – I’m not a fan of phone interviews. Maybe writing will help calm my nerves.

I had two very strange dreams last night. In the first, I was walking through the house in my underwear and noticed the shades were all open. I asked Jay to close them and he refused. An argument ensued and he huffed out of the house. We were planning to go to some kind of a Christmas open house with my family, and he wound up leaving with the kids and going through the whole thing without me, with my family. When I finally caught up with all of them, I let them know how angry and hurt I was and they all called me a spoiled brat. Not sure what that was all about!

My second dream was even stranger. I dreamed Jerry Seinfeld (must be watching too much!) and I were in some sort of public place with a secret back room. He was meeting five Asian women there – most of them were older women – for some kind of sexual tryst! Ha.

I’ve been having a lot of really vivid, weird dreams like that lately. I wish I knew what they meant!

Ugh.

I’ve been diagnosed with Shingles. Fun stuff.

For those not in the know, shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox. For some reason, the virus will “flare up” again later on in life for some who have previously had chicken pox, in a more painful form. Shingles causes raised welts.

This comes after a recent sinus infection (I get them frequently), the latest in a seemingly long list of illnesses/conditions over the last 5 years or so. The list has included melanoma (skin cancer), pneumonia, gallstones, strep, staph infection, and polycystic ovarian syndrome, among other things. Oh, and high blood pressure (gee, I wonder why?).

I was going to insert a joke here about calling me Job, but I have much to be thankful for, so I’m not! My family is healthy and I am pretty healthy otherwise.

I am actually concerned about my apparently weak immune system. It seems like a lot of my frequent symptoms point towards lupus, but I’m not a doctor so I’m not going to diagnose myself. I guess I should go get tested for it.

Well, please say a prayer for me. I guess I could use it.

In lighter news, I saw a large thing on our wall today which turned out to be a LIZARD! Jay chased him around and caught him while I ran away and stood on the couch like a girl. After Jay caught the thing, he acted like he was going to throw it on me. I told him that was grounds for divorce! :)

Aaaah… nostalgia

Yep, I’m an 80′s kid. Well, I was born in 1978, but most of my fondest childhood memories are from the 80s, let’s just put it that way. Ah, yes, playing with my Shrinky-Dinks and Pogo Ball … eating Jello gelatin pops and Marshmallow Rice Krispies … the multi-colored shoelaces … the flourescent ’day-glo’ clothing (eeek!)

I do have one thing to say: if the older generations wonder why our generation is so “weird,” they may want to remember the kind of TV programs our little minds were filled with back then. Be afraid, be very afraid. :)

Seriously, I’m a big fan of all things retro, including classic 80s kids TV programs. You can find a lot of 80s show clips on YouTube, but I’d give some serious $$ for full-length videos of some of these programs.

Here’s a list of some of the shows (click on them for links to video clips) I watched as a kid. I guess that explains a lot. I’ll add to the list as I find more.
