Dream swing

Image

I’ve seen this picture floating about for awhile now … it’s a trampoline that’s been upcycled into a swing/bed. Can you imagine? Oh, I think I’d never get off of it.

Tonight was so pleasant … it was still nice and warm after sunset, and Gabriel was in the hammock and Mikaela was in the porch swing with me. They were both drifting off to sleep, so I had to tell them to go inside and go to bed (it was bedtime). It felt heavenly outside, and I wish we could have just stayed outside.

We have a covered patio, and I’ve been looking into ways to put up some cheap bug screens/mosquito netting around it. Once I do, I would love to have some sort of a swing bed and/or multiple hammocks. I know we’d sleep out there frequently. I love mild central Texas evenings!

Another season is upon us

Autumn, you say? No, we live in central Texas, where Autumn doesn’t hit until around Thanksgiving. If we’re lucky.

No, I’m talking about football season. A week from today, the Texas Longhorns football team plays their first game of the season. And I will resume my annual agreement with Jay: if he’s home watching football, I’m somewhere – ANYWHERE – else. My mostly mild-mannered husband turns into a pacing, hand-wringing, jumping, yelling nut during Texas football games. And he in turn makes ME a nervous wreck. So, it’s off I go on game day. I should start a Texas football widows club this season. Hmmmm. Maybe I will.

Bluebonnet photos 2008

Taking photos of your children sitting in the bluebonnets is a time-honored central Texas tradition. We’ve done it every year since we moved here. This years’ were a little bit better than last year’s …. but I guess they would have been better if the kids weren’t squinting from the sun’s glare.
